Description:

The project is located within Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, upstream of the Metrolinx rail crossing, and involves 2 specific project locations. This creek runs through both forested and open natural areas, and is located within the Conservation Authority's Regulated areas and the Regional Storm floodplain.

The key project objectives are a culvert replacement, watercourse restoration and trail maintenance on Scanlon Creek. Specifically, the two (2) areas that are to be addressed include (A) a failing culvert creek crossing which has become a fish barrier located directly downstream of the previously completed restoration works, and (B) an area of severe bank erosion directly upstream of the original reservoir, including the removal of two (2) pedestrian bridges. This project also includes creating a trail bypass feature and some trail maintenance along approximately 50 metres of pre-existing trail. The intention is that this trail will be the predetermined construction access route for Site B.

As the project is within the Regional Storm floodplain, and Site A is located directly upstream of a Metrolinx rail crossing, an as-built geodetic topographic survey will be required following the completion of construction to confirm the project maintains overland conveyance, and that the existing overland flow paths are not impacted by the proposed cut/fill locations.
